Test suite

The classical introductory exercise. Just say "Hello, World!".

"Hello, World!" is the traditional first program for beginning programming in a new language or environment.

The objectives are simple:

  • Write a function that returns the string "Hello, World!".
  • Run the test suite and make sure that it succeeds.
  • Submit your solution and check it at the website.

If everything goes well, you will be ready to fetch your first real exercise.

For installation and learning resources, refer to the exercism help page.

To run the provided tests, you will need make. Open a terminal window and run the following from the exercise directory:

make test

You should now be able to see the results of the test suite for the exercise.

This is an exercise to introduce users to using Exercism http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%22Hello,_world!%22_program

Submitting Incomplete Solutions

It's possible to submit an incomplete solution so you can see how others have completed the exercise.

(defmodule hello-world-tests
  (behaviour ltest-unit)
  (export all))

(include-lib "ltest/include/ltest-macros.lfe")

(deftest hello-world
  (is-equal "Hello, world!" (hello-world:hello-world)))
;; For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son,
;; that all who believe in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
(defmodule hello-world
  (export (hello-world 0)))

(defun hello-world ()
  "Hello, world!")
