Test suite

The classical introductory exercise. Just say "Hello, World!".

"Hello, World!" is the traditional first program for beginning programming in a new language or environment.

The objectives are simple:

  • Write a function that returns the string "Hello, World!".
  • Run the test suite and make sure that it succeeds.
  • Submit your solution and check it at the website.

If everything goes well, you will be ready to fetch your first real exercise.

This is an exercise to introduce users to using Exercism http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%22Hello,_world!%22_program

Version compatibility

Julia 1.0 and 0.7 are the only supported Julia versions on Exercism. For the most part, the test suites and solutions should be compatible to 0.6, but you will have to change using Test back to using Base.Test in the runtests.jl file. Note that 0.7 and 1.0 are almost identical, except for deprecation warnings, which have all been removed in 1.0.

Submitting Incomplete Solutions

It's possible to submit an incomplete solution so you can see how others have completed the exercise.

using Test

@testset "Say Hi!" begin
    @test hello() == "Hello, World!"
hello() = "Hello, World!"
